Envisioned by the Jesuits and established in 1961, Loyola School Trivandrum is one of the best of its kind in India. Ensconced on an extensive campus on the outskirts of the capital city and provided with the best infrastructure and assisted by a committed faculty, it offers the ideal atmosphere for the holistic development of about 1750 students of UKG to Plus Two classes in the ICSE, ISC and CBSE streams. The school has been reaping the deserved harvest of excellence in the form of a large number of KVPY and NTS scholars; quite a few national toppers in Board examinations, Quiz competitions and Olympiads of every kind; a still larger number of Loyolites getting into prestigious professional colleges on merit every year; many students who later excel in Civil Service and other competitive examinations; the usual success story of 100% pass with about  75% Distinction in all Board examinations; a yearly average of five players getting selected to state-level teams; and half a dozen quiz wizards bringing home to Loyola about a dozen trophies every year.

Many factors contribute to Loyola School’s identity and achievements. Though it is a Catholic minority school protected by Article 30 of the Constitution, it has always been truly catholic in its commitment and so admission and appointment have been open to all communities without any donation. The watchword here is Magis which implies the ceaseless striving after the still better.

An atmosphere of mutual appreciation and cooperation prevails in the Loyola family of parents, pupils, educators and the alumni. Most parents realize the importance of their role as co-educators and cooperate with the school in the effort to bring out the best in each student. The school helps their monitoring efforts by providing them with periodic progress cards, circulars and deficiency reports, and also by promoting collective interaction in PTA meetings and confidential sharing in Open Houses. Also, regular seminars by experts in the field are arranged for promoting responsible parenting and value-based life.

There are a number of clubs and forums functioning in this school to foster personal and inter-personal skills as well as social consciousness. The regular school assembly has been serving as a platform for voicing different views and for honing public-speaking skills. Around ten extension lectures on different topics are arranged every year and some of the personalities who have already interacted with the students include great visionaries like Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and a host of diplomats, scientists and other professionals of international repute.

With a view to improving and testing the leadership qualities and organizational prowess of the senior students, the school has been supporting, since 1996, their initiative in hosting prestigious inter-school events like LaFest. Loyola Basketball Tournament conducted every year since 1974 is meant to promote sportsman spirit, and the Loyolite hoopsters have lifted the trophy sixteen times so far.

LOBA  (Loyola Old Boys Association) is the proof as well as the symbol of the unique Loyola-ness and it plays a major role in binding together the globally extensive diaspora of senior Loyolites of all ages and professions, and in organizing useful programmes for their younger ones on the campus now.
