For two decades now LA Fest has been the first among the major annual programmes on our campus, setting the standard of excellence for the subsequentevents every year. And this being the 20th year of the most talked-about arts festival in and around Thiruvananthapuram city, our young organizers did their best not only to live up to the reputation but to improve upon it. Prof Dr Achuth Sankar S. Nair, Head of the University of Kerala Centre for Bioinformatics – himself a fine blend of the artist and the scientist – inaugurated the festival and exhorted the youngsters to excel in their endeavours and also reach out to the needs of the times. The colourful cavalcade that ensued had its fitting finale: acclaimed musician Job Kurian singing in full-throated ease and bowling over the audience with his inimitable rendition. As the chief guest of the concluding function he gave away the prizes, and Saraswati Vidyalaya carried away the Nataraja, the coveted trophy for the champions.
