Milestones : 1983-1987

1983-87: Fr Varghese Anikuzhy S.J’s first term as Principal, a period noted for all-round excellence. In the curricular field the tradition of 100% pass was bettered with 100% distinction in the SSLC exam of 1985 and an average of 35 students getting into professional colleges on merit every year. The construction of an additional basketball court with concrete floor and fibre-glass boards and disciplined coaching in hockey, cricket, roller skating, basketball and gymnastics helped as many as five students to get into the state team in 1986 and accounted for the recapturing of the Loyola basketball trophy after an interval of five years. Social service activities showed a preference for the neighbouring schools, helping them with books and uniform and arranging sports meets and other competitions for them. January 1987 was especially memorable for the fitting celebration of the Silver Jubilee with a number of inter-school cultural competitions and a two-day Arts and Science Exhibition involving a large number of Govt. departments and autonomous agencies and for bringing out the Jubilee Souvenir.
